Many of us make health and fitness resolutions for the New Year around the holidays, but I’m here to tell you that you should make a health and fitness commitment every day! Our procrastination is the actual obstacle to us achieving our fitness objectives, even if we blame external factors such as office goodies, fast food, or “the holidays” for it.

There have been times when we’ve convinced ourselves, “Someday I’ll be able to wear that outfit,” or “I’ll get back to my college weight.” Every year, we put off starting our exercise and health resolutions until a later date. This endless procrastination is time to come to an end because all we end up doing is wishing for more. Make the resolution to transform these dreams into a reality. There is no more time to waste. According to Shakespeare, “defer no time; delays have dangerous outcomes.”

The key to a happy and healthy existence is to accept that there is no such thing as a tomorrow. The decisions we make now will determine our future. When we stop and reflect, it’s clear that today is all we’ve got. The past does not exist any longer. What is ahead is still a mystery. Everything lives only in the here and now! Your future self will only exist if the person you are now decides that they are going to do anything right now. Every day is a new opportunity to improve one’s health and fitness.

There are no shortcuts when it comes to achieving long-term fitness goals. There is no way around this! It’s impossible to predict what this will mean for any individual.
